Book of Ra from Novomatic is one of the most popular slots games on the market. This Egyptian-themed slot was launched in 2005 and, while looking a little old in comparison to newer games, is still a cult favourite – mainly due to the potential big winnings on offer. Book of Ra is a 5-reel, 10 paylines online slots game with a real land-based slot machine feel thanks to the playstyle and sound effects.

Gameplay
The Egyptian theme comes through in the pyramids at sunset image at the top of the game screen and, of course, the choice of symbols.
Players are presented with 10, J, Q, K and A in an Egyptian font. The special symbols are a scarab, a statue of Horus, a sarcophagus (Tutankhamen?) and an Indiana Jones-style explorer. The Book of Ra symbol is a wild and also serves as a scatter and as the trigger for the bonus game. These special symbols are the big bucks symbols with the sarcophagus and the explorer being the highest paying symbols in the base game (2000 and 5000 coins respectively).
You can choose to take your winnings or bet them on a mini-game of red or black.
Hitting 3x Book of Ra symbols will trigger the bonus game and an automatic 10x free spins. This begins with a randomly chosen symbol from the game becoming your wild for the duration of the free spins and is also an expanding symbol – get three or more and they will expand across the reels to give you BIG wins.
You can choose to bet per line or per coin with an option of 1, 5, 5, 7, 9 or 10 lines/coins. Max play, as per usual, gets you the max winnings.
Autoplay is available which is a definite plus in a game where winning spins are rare. Choosing autoplay cancels the bet option.
